Permissions & Bluetooth — OBDVitals
OBDVitals needs Bluetooth permissions to discover and connect to your OBD‑II adapter.
Android (permission rationale)
Bluetooth scan / connect
Used to:
- discover nearby OBD‑II adapters (BLE and/or Classic Bluetooth)
- connect to a selected adapter
- exchange diagnostic messages to read live data and trouble codes
OBDVitals does not use Bluetooth to track your location. On some Android versions, the system groups Bluetooth scanning under permissions that may be associated with location. OBDVitals does not request location permission for diagnostics.
OBDVitals does not access or store precise GPS location data. Bluetooth permissions may be required by Android to discover nearby devices.
Background access (if you enable it)
If the app supports running a diagnostic session while in the background, Android may show a persistent notification while the connection is active.
iOS (Bluetooth usage description)
Bluetooth is used to connect to an OBD‑II adapter and read diagnostic and live sensor data from your vehicle. OBDVitals is read‑only and does not program vehicle control units.
